So, I was filming a love story interview at this park/camping area in Lehi. (It is part of this couple's wedding video- to be shown at the reception)
The Groom was just finishing up telling about the moment when he realized that he really wanted to marry his fiance.
He was sharing feelings that he was not used to sharing. Upon finishing, he looks over to his bride- perhaps expecting to see a tear in her eye...but instead, he finds her laughing. This video explains why.
I tried to capture footage of the anomaly. But on top of it being a bit awkward to film, it was like trying to capture footage of the sasquatch. He kept appearing suddenly to mess with his generator, and then re-submerged into his 80's style trailer to do who knows what in a loin cloth.
The fact that it even happens is funny. But the when it happens makes it even funnier.

The raft was made entirely of wood and twine found along the lake. We did have some with us, but most was found on the lake. The raft held 5 of us with a fire on it :)
This was a definite highlight of the trip!
This event took place in July of 2002. This was the 3rd video I ever made. I made it using the free version of Ulead Video Studio. It was painstaking and arduous to edit with, but it was all I had. Now I use Final Cut Express. Much easier to work with.
This trip was a classic because the five of us have never been on a trip of this length together since. And nothing since has compared to the adventure of this trip.

Four of us take the "Diving Board" for the first time. I road up to it hesitantly- as this drop had haunted me for close to 7 years- my freind was below checking out the landing, suddenly I had a burst of insanity and I took it with out much speed. It was one of the most glorious moments of my life- that moment when that gut wrenching fear is overcome and gives way to an exhilaration so much greater than the fear on the other end of the spectrum.
Anyhow, once I did it, the other three caught the insanity too and took the drop. And then we noticed something- we became "those guys who took the drop" and other people were taking pictures of us.
It was an all around cool feeling. :)

The poem accompanying the video was written years ago by our friend Matt Fisher while we were all on a mission. The poem is very moving. It captures perfectly the feelings we all experienced upon leaving the carefree mountain adventures of our youth and took on the weighty respsponsability of life as an LDS missionary.
I have always loved this video for it's content and artful editing.

A family in our neighborhood was moving, so my wife volunteered me to make a movie with the neighborhood kids for memories sake.
So I was left alone to work with 12 kids and 12 imaginative visions of what this movie should be. I pieced it together the best that I could. The kids came up with the plot, characters and everything. I just directed things so that the movie would work out how I hoped that they were imagining it.
All the kids had an excited smile when the saw it. They loved it. :)

Part 1 of 5 in the Fern Lake Doc*mentary. The Introduction.
This event took place in July of 2002. This was the 3rd video I ever made. I made it using the free version of Ulead Video Studio. It was painstaking and arduous to edit with, but it was all I had. Now I use Final Cut Express. Much easier to work with.

We decided to ride Porcupine Rim on the first week of February '07. Our excitement turned to survival after a series of ...
We decided to ride Porcupine Rim on the first week of February '07.
Our excitement turned to survival after a series of bad decisions when we found ourselves in the middle of a remote trail with no chance of anyone passing by and only bike clothing to keep us warm. To be off the trail by dark we had to keep moving, hope for ridable terrain, and have no injuries...In spite of the that though, I took the drop off of the "diving board"- a 5 foot drop that not many people take. :)
Turning back would not have been an option because it would have put us in the shade of the north face part of the trail meaning it would be a lot colder and with deeper snow in the evening. Not to mention the demoralizing aspect of turning back and having to ride 10 miles of dirt road back into town.
We pushed our bikes in snow varying in depths of 6-18 inches of snow for 8 miles. Road for 4 miles in rocky, muddy terrain pretty good riding. Pushed and road through 1-3 inches of snow for the remaining 2 miles. Then we finished of with 5 more miles of road in to town. We were exhausted by the end...As you will notice we are not quite with it at the end of the video.
